Think bout success
1) hard work
2)skill
3)opportunity
4)luck
I believe that hard work is the biggest factor in success. Skill follows because skill is natural and comes with hard work. Someone with skill can be better than someone who works hard because that is just the way things are, but I believe that hard work creates opportunity which can be the turning point or push that a business really needs to succeed. People see hard work and want to be a part of it. Luck is very unreliable. Luck can be an opportunity or you can be lucky enough to be very skilled at what you do, but it is very unreliable and one day you might need more than just luck or skill and if you are not willing to work your hardest then you will fail. Hard work almost always pays off and once you reach your goal you will know that you have earned it. Also there will be many people in the world with skill and you do not want to get your job taken from you because they were better at it. But, if you work hard and your boss sees that he will not give your job to someone who is not willing to work.

Bangladesh Factory collapse-
I have read a few different articles today. Some are about fast fashion where industries make you feel out of fashion after one weak. They also sell clothing that is made to fall apart so you have to be more. This is wrong but what is really disturbing is the people making these clothing. There is a eight story factory that collapsed in Bangladesh about a year ago. This was during work hours. more than 1,100 people were killed and more than twice that was pulled out of the wreckage with terrible life changing injuries. So many families were affected by this and now have no source of income. The world wide name brand industries that were produced in this factory donated money, but not nearly enough. what is even worse is that the industries new of these terrible and unsafe conditions, but do nothing to change them. The fashion industries also use child labor to sow sequins on to clothing. Though there are machines that can do this, they are very expensive and the companies do not want to make "unnecessary" investments. What I learned to day is that fashion is one of the most corrupt industries in the world. Questions that I have are why does the government let this happen? Why doesn't the government make those big brand name industries pay the families for there loss and cruel unfair, treatment?

Hello family,
I have been living in New York city for over a year now and it has taken me a while to adjust. It is not only difficult coming from another country but also from an arid place to an urban city. Living in New York is amazing they have little neighborhoods called immigrant ghettos that remind me of home and other places around the world. I do not have much money because the Americans are very prejudice against Asians. The only jobs I can get are service jobs. Right now I am a janitor, but I am better off than some. I do not live in a tenement. It is very easy to buy things here. They have department store but mostly those are for women. Grocery shopping has become so easy. Everything is in a little can and they have catalogs I can look through to order my shopping and they will deliver it. I want to become more like an American. The people who try to keep their culture cause stress and the Americans to not like us. It is easy to assimilate because everyone is required to speak English. It also helps that there is only american food in american stores and that my job requires me to wear american clothing.
When I am not working I go to a baseball game. Baseball they are so fun, The Americans call it "the American pastime." They also play football and basketball. Baseball reminds me of cricket. I also like to go to the saloons. They are very interesting. Sometimes I go to Coney Island. It is a big park full of rides but not like a normal park like the one Fredrick Olmstead made called Big Spring Park. This place is also full of cathedrals, art gallerias, consort halls, and history museums. It is easy to know who is rich and powerful in the city because their names will be on the buildings. They will also live in huge houses in the heart of the city. The problem with living in the city is that it is very dirty. The air is foggy and there is not much nature. Sometimes I wished I lived in the suburbs. The Americans have come up with many amazing new inventions like skyscrapers and the Brooklyn Bridge. Also to help with crime and fires they have organizations like firemen and policemen. It is also much easier to get around the city because of the electric trolley. They tried to pave the road with wooden boards but it was too much work and too many people.
I miss you and will send money soon.
sincerely, Megan
